Holbrook, Freston and Hadleigh to host King of the Mountains and Sprint Points

Primrose Hill in Holbrook and Freston Hill have been officially announced as the Suffolk stage locations for the King of the Mountains (KoM) in this year's highly anticipated Tour of Britain, the UKs most prestigious cycle race; With neighbouring market town Hadleigh chosen to host the thrilling spectacle of athleticism and determination that is the sprint section.

These locations will all provide an ideal view for spectators as cyclists showcase their skills and determination to secure the coveted King of the Mountains and sprint jerseys. The points earned at each location also play a pivotal role in determining the overall winners of these hotly-contested categories, adding an extra layer of excitement to the already exhilarating race.

The King of the Mountains (KoM) competition has seen some of the cycling world's most illustrious champions, with previous jersey holders including the 2010 Tour de France champion, Andy Schleck (2006), and the esteemed Grand Tour stage winner, Thomas De Gendt (2009). With such legendary riders gracing this title, competitors push their limits and display unparalleled endurance during the challenging stages.

The allocation of points at each King of the Mountains location varies based on the difficulty of the ascent. The category one peaks, presenting the most demanding climbs, offer 10 points to the triumphant rider, gradually descending to one point for the 10th-placed finisher. In contrast, Suffolk, classified as a category three climb, will witness a fierce battle with four, three, two, and one point up for grabs for the top four finishers, respectively.

The precise prizes available at each sprint location are currently undergoing a thorough review for 2023.
